Message from Down the Line Team Manager
Message To Derbyshire Down The Line Shooters.
Firstly, I hope you and your families are keeping well through these strange times and are looking forward to getting back to some sort of normality. As many of you are aware, I have been Derbyshire DTL Team Manager for the last three years. During this time the team has continued to enjoy success at Regional and National Inter County events (we usually came away with something!) Although the 2020 season never really got going, we still managed a great turnout (and result!) for the Notts vs Derbys Help for Heroes “friendly” in March while at the same time raising money for charity. In between “Lockdowns”, we also managed to field a team for the National Inter Counties at North of England CTC in September (with social distancing, of course!)
Sadly, as things stand at the moment, I am unable to commit fully to the role of DTL manager and therefore am standing down from this position with immediate effect. I would like to thank the Derbyshire CPSA Chairman Geoff Flint (our leader!) for all his help and support over the last three years with his knowledge and experience of our sport. Last, but by no means least, a massive thanks to all the DTL shooters that have represented The Team in recent years for their dedication to the cause, their input and advice but mainly for their camaraderie and team spirit. All in all, we’ve had some very enjoyable day’s out!
I would like to thank Ian for managing the Down the Line team for the last 3 years. Ian has led from the front, getting his England Badge and Winning numerous National, Regional and County titles as well and set a very high standard for the team to follow and built up a fantastic team spirit. At the West Midlands Inter Counties and National Inter Counties the team always managed to pickup the odd medal along the way, with the highlight last year Winning the Help 4 Heroes ( friendly challenge ) With Nottinghamshire as well as raising some money for Charity.
Ian the door is always open, when you want to return.
Derbyshire CPSA Chairman, and all the Committee
Ron, Julie, Pip and Simon
!!!!! Statement from the CPSA!!!!!
The following email was sent to all CPSA clubs, grounds, and trade members on 14 May 2020, stating that the CPSA has now had the necessary assurances to recommend the re-opening of clay-shooting grounds, which will be of interest to all clay-shooters in England:
Dear Clubs, Grounds, and Trade Members,
Regarding the CPSA’s position on the opening of clay shooting grounds following the easing of restrictions from the 13th May for outdoor sports activities:
Over the past 48 hours we have been working with the Government, Police and other bodies to get the confirmation we needed under the latest Government guidance that it is possible to start shooting recreationally again within England.
Therefore, as the National Governing Body for the Sport of Clay Target Shooting in England, we are now satisfied that we can start a phased return to clay shooting with initially pay & play/practice and a return to competitive registered shoots in time.
Shooting grounds can re-open when they are ready and our members are now able to participate and enjoy the sport of clay target shooting recreationally while all following strict CV19 safety protocols and guidance.
Importantly, we have now also had confirmation from our insurers that our members are fully insured after considering the new guidance to get out and enjoy their sport again.
We have already issued comprehensive guidance to grounds to assist with their planning to implement the strict social distancing and safety measures to protect their staff, the shooters and our sport.
Please Click Here (https://www.cpsa.co.uk/staysafe) to go to our Shoot Safe, Stay Safe online documents.
,!!!! Message from Derbyshire CPSA!!!!!!
As soon as grounds open and resume with Registered Competition the Committee will look at the possibilities of holding some County Championships and Selections.
These might be on original dates as the shoot calendar previously published or on a different date or ground depending on the grounds shoot calendar.
Should the West Midlands Inter Counties Team shoots take place and No Team selections have taken place, Teams will be pick by Team Managers/ Committee based on known ability/averages and availability.

You will have noticed from the 2019 Derbyshire Fixture list that we are planning to have four selection shoots in total, including one at Doveridge, (a Derbyshire DTL selection shoot in Derbyshire? Whatever next?). If you are able to make this one please call Jo on 01889 565986 to book on soon, as space may be limited.
Teams for the West Midlands Inter Counties DTL at Fauxdegla on 28th July will be selected using your best two scores from the four selection shoots. When selecting the teams for the National Inter Counties DTL at Northampton on 29th September, current form will also be taken into consideration to try and field the best possible teams at that time.
If you have any concerns or suggestions please don’t hesitate to ring me on 07967145495 or email email@example.com and let’s make it all about THE TEAM! Good luck to you all for 2019, see you soon. Onwards & Upwards, Ian Roper.

Calling all Olympic Trap and Trap shooters!
Message from Trap Manager Simon Taylor
Anyone interested in shooting the Derbyshire Olympic Trap County Championship this year?
We are looking to hold the Championship at Doveridge in conjunction with Staffordshire’s O T shooters on Sunday 17th March.
It will be a shoot of 50 targets and a 6 man ISSF mini final with the top 3 shooters from each County taking part.
I would like to know who is interested and what your thoughts are on ;-
1) Holding it with another County
2) Holding the Championship at Doveridge with only one layout
3) Or any other suggestions that anyone may have.
I know not many people shoot Olympic Trap and many don’t like to travel far, so hopefully this is a fun way of doing the Championship.
I know with only one layout it’s a bit restrictive to squad numbers but both Counties struggle with turnout for this discipline.
Also this year’s West Midlands Area & Inter Counties Olympic Trap Championship is at Fauxdegla on Sunday 11th August.
Thoughts and Ideas welcome. A.S.A.P
Please leave any suggestions below or contact
Geoff Flint on 07778 639691 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
