The All Round County Championship was held at Nottingham & District Gun Club on 31st August. Shooting on an early squad Joss Read shot 95/100, a score which lasted all day to give Joss his third title of the year, Ben Stubbins was runner up on 90/100, followed by Steve Pinch and Tristan Yeomans on 88/100 and Keith Wood jnr on 87/100. In the Veterans the battle for the title going down to the wire with Gary Webster taking the title on 92/100 with Adrian Hope runner up on 91/100 followed by Paul Hallam on 87/100. Ladies Champion was Chris Thacker on 74/100.

Julian Womble was County Champion on 119/150 with David Weston runner up on 103/150 followed by Simon Taylor on 97/150. Well done to the All Round teams who won the Gold medals in the Seniors, Ladies and Veterans at the West Midlands Area and Inter counties All Round at Nottingham & District Gun Club on 14th June. The Senior team of Ben Stubbins 90/100, Chris Ford 89/100, Steve Pinch and Keith Wood jnr both on 86/100 and Geoff Flint 85/100, for a score of 436 /500 was 6 clays ahead of runners up Hereford & Worcestershire on 429/500. In the Ladies Karen Braithwaite 79/100 and Chris Thacker on 71/100 won the Gold on 150/200 from Shropshire on 149/200. The Veterans team of Gary Webster 88/100, Vernon Lathwell 86/100 and Eric Maskrey on 85/100 won Gold on 174/200 with Shropshire vets runners up on 150/200. In the Area Championship Karen Braithwaite won the Ladies Gold medal after a shoot off on the single barrel with J Taylor, Karen winning the shoot off 18 to 17. In the Veterans it was a clean sweep with Paul Hallam winning the Gold medal after a shoot off with Gary Webster both on 88/100, Paul just edging it 23 to Gary’s 22, while Vernon Lathwell won the Bronze. Well done to you all.
Congratulatons to Tom Prescott who won the Super Vets Trophy at the Universal Trench British Open after a shoot off with John Winn. Tom winning the shoot off 24 – 22. Tom then followed this up by winning the Super Vets Title at the Great Britain Open held at Beverley. Tom shooting 91+ 94 over the two days to take the title. Well done Tom.

The U.T County Championship was held at Rugby Gun Club on 21st Spetember 2014. With scores tied on 92/100 between Chris Darvell and Simon Taylor a shoot off was needed to decide the County Champion. After a round of 25 clays Chris took the title shooting 23/25 to Simon’s 20/25. Veterans Champion was Tom Prescott on 88/100 this was followed by Paul Insley on 85/100. Well done to you both.
The West Midlands Area and Inter Counties All Round was held at Fauxdegla S.G. on 24th August. The Veterans team of Ron Barron, Gary Webster and Eric Maskery won the Gold Medal on 174/200. In the Area Championship Gary Webster won the Veterans Gold Medal.
The Double Trap County Championship was held at Beverley S.G. on 24th August. Darren Hall retained his title on 94/150. Veterans Champion was Clive Weston on 84/150 after a battle with david Gregan which went down to the last few clays.

The Derbyshire ABT Championship was held at Rugby on 3 August 2014. Nice day for it – bit windy and very variable light but dry with some sunny intervals. We managed 7 Derbyshire shooters and the championsip eventually developed into a contest between Paul Insley, who shot 50 straight to finish and Roy Ashmore with Simon Taylor chasing them all the wayto the finish. Paul and Roy both finished on 93, so we needed a shoot off to decide the championship. This went all the way to the final target before Roy emerged the winner, +21 to Paul’s +20. Quite a neat finish as that gave Roy the County title and Paul the Veterans title. Overall runner up was Simon Taylor on 87. Congratulations to all the winners and many thanks to John Nightingale and all the team at Rugby.

Helice (ZZ) County Championship 2014 took place on Sunday 6th April 2014 at Rugby.Five Derbyshire shooters took part in this shoot. Derbyshire’s High Gun was hie was overall runner up. The West Midlands Area and Inter Counties All Round was held at Doveridge on 20th October. Derbyshire teams enjoy medal success with the Veterans team of Gary Webster, Eric Maskrey and John Sims 1st on 156/200. The Ladies team of Karen Braithwaite and Chris Thacker came 2nd on 130/200, while the Seniors team of Stuart Haywood, Bryan Ward, Keith Wood Jnr, Keith Ritchie and Ben Stubbins finished 3rd. Karen Braithwaite shot an excellent 83/100 and was West Midlands Area Ladies Champion. Well done to you all.
Congratulations to the scratch Derbyshire ABT team who won the West Midlands Inter Counties bronze medal at Rugby on 29th September – Roy Ashmore, Paul Insley, Rob Jones, Chris Darvell & David Gregan. Our high scorers were Roy and Paul, both on 85, which in the very windy conditions was good shooting; in Roy’s case good enough to win D Class!

In variable conditions Bryan Ward was Champion on 85/100 with Chris Darvell runner up on 84/100, this was closely followed by Jason Roberts on 81/100, Keith Ritchie on 80/100, Geoff Flint and Tom Waring both on 79/100. Veterans Champion was Chris Darvell on 84/100, followed by Gary Webster on 79/100. Well done to both winners.
The All Round County Championship was held at Nottingham & District G.C on 26th August. County Champion was Gary Webster on 90/100 runner up was Darren Hall on 89/100 this was followed by Geoff Flint and Jim Mirza on 84/100. Veterans Champion was Paul Hallam on 85/100, followed by John Sims on 82/100. Junior Champion was Matthew Pegg on 76/100. Gary was also the Veterans Champion and Matthew the Junior Champion in the Kevin Quincy Memorial Shoot.

Congratulations to Olympic Trap Shooter Caroline Povey who has made a great start to the 2013 season. Caroline won the Bronze medal at the Cyprus Grand Prix, which is the first big international competition in Europe for those competing in the Olympic disciplines. Caroline performed exceptionally well under the new single barrel final system scoring 12/12 in the semi finals and then 13/15 to take the Bronze medal. Caroline is then off to Mexico to represent Great Britain in the World Cup. We wish her all the best for that competition.
It’s been a busy couple of weeks for Derbyshire ABT shooters with both the National and West Midlands Inter Counties. The National Inter Counties was held at Nottingham on 14th October. With some of the usual ABT shooters not available the team consisted of mainly DTL shooters. In variable conditions Tom Prescott and Dave Hinchliffe shared the Derbyshire High Gun on 82/100 followed by Gary Webster on 80/100 and Roy Ashmore on 79/100 (with a borrowed gun).
The West Midland Area and Inter Counties, held at Rugby on 21st October, was a day of early mist and dark cloudy weather. Derbyshire High Gun was Paul Insley on 88/100 including one of only two 25 straights of the day, Darren Hall on 83/100 pushing him hard all the way, (again with a borrowed gun). Paul Insley also won the Bronze medal in the Area competition and C class while Darren was second in D class.
The Universal Trap County Championship was held at Rugby on 2nd September. A small turnout from the Derbyshire shooters with other Trap championships being held on the same day. In overcast conditions Paul Insley won the County Championship on 83/100 and Chris Darvell winning the Veterans title on 80/100 closely followed by Rob Jones on 79/100. Well done to both winners.
The Sportrap County Championship was held at Kegworth S.G on 19th August. Jason Allaway was the Champion on 84/100, Geoff Farmer the Veterans Champion on 79/100 and Janice Barnett the Ladies Champion on 51/100. Well done to you all.

In the Veterans Paul Hallam retained the title on 81/100 closely followed by Adrian Hope on 79/100 and Albert Hopkinson and Gary Webster on 77/100. Ladies Champion was Bridget Bingley on 50/100. The Olympic Trap County Championship was held at Beverley on 27th May. In near perfect conditions 7 Derbyshire shooters set out on the quest to become Champion.John Bailey won the County Championship on 83/100, Caroline Povey was Ladies Champion and David Gregan was Veterans Champion on 78/100.
The Double Trap County Championship was held at Beverley on 27th May. David Gregan was County Champion with last year’s Champion Darren Hall runner up.David was also Veterans Champion. Well done to all winners.
The West Midland Area and Inter Counties Universal Trap Championships were held at Rugby on 8th April. Derbyshire fielded a strong team of John Bailey 93/100, Tom Prescott 92, Roy Ashmore 89, Dave Rackham 86, Rob Jones 84 and Chris Darvell 79. In a close battle for the Team Championship Derbyshire came second on 444/500 piped at the post by Staffordshire on 446/500.
In the Area Championship John Bailey won the Gold medal to become Area Champion on 93/100 while Roy Ashmore won the Bronze medal on 89/100. Tom Prescott was Veterans Champion on 92/100. Well done to all Derbyshire shooters.
The ZZ County Championship was held at Rugby on 9th April. In wet windy conditions David Gregan held off the strong challenge from Darren Hall to win the title. Well done David.
