Congratulations to Alan Barnes on shooting his first 100 straight at Fauxdegla on 6th November 2016. Well done and well deserved.

Well done to Julie Havill on winning the Ladies class at the Belvoir Skeet Championship held at Nottingham & District Gun Club on 13th November 2016. Julie shooting  97/100 +24+4 after a shoot off with Liz Shanks.

Well done to Steve Pinch on finishing runner up on 99/100 at the Annual Skeet Challenge held at Nottingham & District Gun Club on 27th November 2016.

The West Midlands Inter Counties Skeet was held at Doveridge on 18th September 2016. Derbyshire won medals in three categories. The Seniors finished 3rd in the Bronze medal postion on 485/500, 1 point behind Winners Staffordshire and runners up Cheshire on 486/500. Senior scores were – Alan Barnes 99, Steve Pinch 98, Chris Havill 98, Andy Barnes 96, Geoff Flint 94 and Graham Smith 91. The Veterans team of Paul Hallam 98, Billy Parkin 97 and Gary Webster 97 won the Gold medal on 196/200, with Cheshire runners up on 195/200. The Ladies team of Julie Havill 94 and Charlotte Hawksworth 77, finished on171/200 and took the Bronze medal. Team High gun was Alan Barnes on 99/100. Well done to you all.

Congratulations to Julie Havill on winning the Ladies class at the Express Open Skeet held at Nottingham Sporting Clays on 25th September 2016. Julie shooting 98/100.

Ben Ludford-Brooks Junior British Open Skeet Champion

Congratulations to Ben Ludford-Brooks who retained his British Open Junior Skeet title at Doveridge on 14th August 2016. Ben shooting 99/100 to win the trophy. 

Ben was also joined by Derbyshire’s Matthew Pegg and H & W Emma Parkinson in the West Midlands Regional Junior Team who won the Regional Trophy at the British Open. Well done.

The Skeet County Championship was held on Sunday 17th July at Nottingham Sporting Clays. Shooting on the 1st Squad of the day Chris Havill won the championship on 97/100, with Steve Pinch runner up on 95/100 and Alan Barnes 3rd on 94/100. Julie Havill retained the Ladies title on 93/100. Ben Ludford-Brooks won the Junior title after a shoot off with Matthew Pegg, both shooting 93/100. Gary Webster won the Veterans title on 96/100 with Billy Parkin runner up on 95/100. Well done to all winners.

Steve Pinch County Champion

The Skeet Doubles County Championship was held at Nottingham & District Gun Club on 26th June 2016. Steve Pinch won the County Championship on 97/100 with Chris Havill runner up on 95/100 and Alan Barnes third on 92/100. Veterans Champion was Paul Hallam retained his title on 95/100 with Gary Webster runner up on 90/100. Junior Champion was Matthew Pegg on 91/100. Ladies Champion was Julie Havill on 84/100. Well done to all winners.

Well done to Derbyshire’s Skeet shooters who won the Annual Derby v Notts Skeet challenge in aid of the Help 4 Hero’s on 6th March 2016. For a while it looked like Notts would win but Derbyshire’s strength in depth shone through to retain the trophy 958/1000 to Notts 944/1000. Top 10 scorers where Alan Barnes and Gary Webster on 99/100, Julie Havill and Steve Pinch on 98/100, followed by Ben Ludford-Brooks and Chris Bingley on 96/100, Matthew Pegg on 94/100, Geoff Flint and Paul Hallam on 93/100 and Chris Havill on 92/100. Thanks to all Derbyshire shooters that shot this event. Top scores for Notts where Pat Dickman on 100 straight, John Miller on 98/100, Andy Brown, Tom Tristram and Ash Parfrement on 96/100 and Darren Watkinson on 95/100. Thanks to Carl and his staff for running this event. The return Down the Line Leg is on 20th March.

The Skeet Doubles County Championship was held at Nottingham Sporting Clays on 2nd August. In warm sunny weather Matthew Pegg won the County Championship on 97/100, followed by Andy Barnes, Chris Havill and Alan Barnes on 95/100. Veterans Champion was Paul Hallam on 96/100 followed by Billy Parkin on 93/100 and Keith Roe on 91/100. Ladies Champion was Julie Havill on 89/100 and Junior Champion was Matthew Pegg on 97/100. Well done to you all.

Following the final Skeet team selection at Nottingham G.C on Sunday 2nd August, Alan Barnes was the top scorer in the Seniors on 99/100 followed by Andrew Dixon and Andy Barnes on 96/100 and Steve Pinch on 95/100. Veterans high gun was Paul Hallam on 98/100 followed by Billy Parkin on 93/100. It was nip and tuck in the Juniors where Matthew Pegg had the upper hand on 93/100 with Ben Ludford-Brooks on 91/100. In the Ladies Chris Thacker was the top scorer.

Well done to Alan Barnes who narrowly missed out on his 1st 100 straight missing high 2 on his last round for a score of 99. Well done to you all.

Help 4 Hero’s Skeet

Sunday 15th March 2015 saw the annual Derby v Notts (friendly challenge) Skeet shoot in aid of the Help 4 Hero’s Charity.  In very cold weather Notts early squads looked to have put them in a strong position, posting 948/1000.  John Miller was top scorer on 99/100 followed by Wes Ball on 98/100, Kevin Holliday and S Hilton both on 97/100.  With most of Derbyshire’s shooters shooting on later squads Ben Ludford-Brooks lead the way on 96/100 followed by Chris Havil and Matthew Pegg both on 97/100 followed by Paul Hallam and Billy Parkin on 96/100 and Julie Havill, Alan Barnes and Steve Pinch all on 95/100.  With all scores in Derbyshire retained the trophy on 953/1000.  Congratulations to all Derbyshire shooters who attended this shoot and helped Derbyshire retain the trophy.  Well done to all Notts shooters who shot this shoot and made it a close battle.  Thanks to carl and his staff at Nottingham & District Gun Club for holding this event.

1st Selection Shoot

The 1st Skeet Team selection was held at Nottingham & District Gun Club on Sunday 15th March.  Top scorer in the Senoiors was Chris Havill on 97/100 followed by Alan Barnes and Steve Pinch on 95/100and Geoff Flint on 93/100.  In the Veterans Paul Hallam and Billy Parkin tied for top spot on 96/100 this was follwed by Ron Baron on 92/100.  In the Juniors Matthew Pegg edged a close battle with Ben Ludford-Brooks on 97/100 yo Ben’s 96/100.  Julie Havill was top scorer in the Ladies on 95/100.  Well done to all shooters.

Well done to Derbyshire Juniors Matthew Pegg and Ben Ludford-Brooks who shot 95 and 93 to score 188/200 and won the Gold medal from runners up Warwickshire on 172/200 at the West Midland Inter Counties Skeet Championship held at Doveridge on 20 July 2014.  The Senior team of Alan Barnes, Billy Parkin, Geoff Flint, Andrew Dixon and Paul Hallam won the Bronze medal on 472/500.  The Veterans team of Ron Baron and Gary Webster finished 4th on 179/200.

The 3rd Skeet Team Selection was held at Nottingham Sporting Clays on 29th June.  Shooting on the last squad of the day Geoff Flint and Chris Havill returned with the top score in the Seniors on 97/100.  This was closely followed by Alan Barnes and Andrew Dixon on 95/100.  The top scorers in the Veterans was Ron Baron and Billy Parkin on 95/100.  Julie Havill was the highest scoring Lady on 96/100 and Ben Ludford-Brooks was top scorer for the Juniors.

Well done to the Derbyshire Ladies Skeet Team of Julie Havill and Jenny Del-rosso who won the Ladies National Inter Counties Skeet Championship held at Nottingham & District Gun Club on 19/20th October with a score of 186/200. Julie was also the Overall Ladies High Gun on 95/100.  The Junior Team finished 3rd on 184/200.  The Seniors where 5th on 470/500 and the Veterans where 4th on 189/200.  Well done to you all.

Well done to Michael Gilligan who won the Olympic Skeet English Open and Grand Prix at Doveridge on 191/200 over the weekend of 21/22nd July.  Michael continued his winning streak by winning the Gold medal at the British Open Olympic Skeet Championships at Beverley East Yorkshire.

 

Congratulations to Matthew Pegg who was runner up in the Junior Class at the British Open Skeet Championships held at Southern Counties this weekend 24/25th Aug. Also to Mark Badkin who was joint 3rd in C Class at the same event.

Matthew Pegg was top of the Juniors on 96/100 followed by Ben Ludford-Brooks on 93/100. In the Veterans Billy Parkin was the top scorer on 95/100 closely followed by Gary Webster on 93/100.
